Extracurricular Activities

After-school programs and extracurricular activities provide a richer environment to help students learn and grow. At Kilgour School, students have access to a variety of programs and activities to explore their interests.

Programs

Everybody Counts

Everybody Counts is an annual program offered to students in all grades. It is presented by trained parent volunteers whose goal is to teach students understanding and tolerance of those living with disabilities.

Growing Up Class

Presented to boys and girls grades 4th-6th. Instructions are regarding physical and emotional changes. Detailed information will be sent home prior to the class, including an invitation to a parents' meeting prior to the class session.

Kindergarten Helpers & Lunchroom Helpers

Older students are given the opportunity to volunteer to assist the teachers in supervising the Kindergarten students in the lunchroom and on the playground, or to assist in the lunchroom duties. These volunteer opportunities for students provide a positive mentoring program and lessons in responsibility and cooperation.

Mustang Savings/PNC Bank

For more than a decade, Kilgour’s Partner-In-Education has been PNC Bank. Among many other ways in which PNC Bank helps support our school, they have given students the opportunity to open a savings account at the school. Kilgour’s PNC branch is open in the lobby bi-weekly.

PTA Programming

The PTA sponsors programs, such as Opera Outreach, Schoolhouse Symphony, Frisch Marionettes, and COSI on Wheels, who bring their traveling exhibit to Kilgour each year as a result of the PTA's commitment to enriching the experiences of Kilgour students.

Scouting

Scout groups may obtain permission to meet in school after school hours. Interested and qualified parents or community members form scout troops with enrollment not limited to Kilgour students.

Student Council

Student council officers are elected in grades 3rd-6th by their homeroom classmates. Student council representatives meet once a month and sponsor schoolwide events as well as participate in school improvements/initiatives.

Clubs

Various clubs are offered each year dependent upon student interest and sponsors. The Kilgour PTA helps sponsor many clubs. Kilgour clubs typically include: Choir, Band, Art Club, French & Spanish, Keyboarding Club, Student Newspaper/Young Authors and more.

Sports

Soccer, basketball and softball teams are organized for all interested boys & girls by a parent organization called the Kilgour Sports Boosters.
