What is the LSDMC?

The LSDMC is the primary governing body for each school in Cincinnati Public Schools (CPS). This important committee gives insight and input into important decisions that impact students’ lives and shape their educational experience. The Kilgour LSDMC collaborates with three main parent organizations of our school - The Foundation, Parent & Teacher Association, and Sports Boosters - to support the purpose of our school community.

Who is on Kilgour's LSDMC?

CPS Board policy governs LSDMC membership and gives proportional representation to all stakeholder groups. Membership is comprised of four major constituencies, with a minimum of 12 members. The number of core members may increase but should remain proportional. Members are asked to serve two-year terms that may be extended for an additional two years but not exceed a length of four years.

LSDMC membership groups:

Three parents
Three community members
Three teachers selected by the Instructional Learning Team (ILT)
Three non-teaching staff including the principal, with the other two selected by their representative groups

Parent Representatives

Gavi Begtrup (Vice Chair): Gavi is a scientist, serial entrepreneur, executive, and policy wonk. He is the former Chair of the Spencer Center LSDMC and proud parent of three children in Cincinnati Public Schools.

Amy Parks-Ealy: Amy has her own Marketing and Sales consulting business. She has three children who have gone through Kilgour, the
youngest is in 6th grade. She has served as Kilgour’s past PTA President, VP, Auction chair, and 6th grade activity coordinator.

Evthokia Stephanie Saclarides (Chair): Stephanie is a former public school teacher, instructional coach, and administrator, and is currently a professor of mathematics education at University of Cincinnati. She is the proud mother of one current and
one future CPS student.

Community Members

Jessika Bass: Jessika is a Sr. Clinical Research Professional at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, MSW, LSW and practicing therapist.

Phillip DeVaul (Secretary): Phillip is the parent of two current Kilgour students and one former student. He is an Episcopal priest who works at the nearby Church of the Redeemer.

Alexis Morrisroe: Alexis has been an educator for over 20 years, specializing in Holocaust and genocide education. She is currently an adjunct at University of Cincinnati. She is a representative from the Mt. Lookout Community Council.

Teachers

Jennifer Hellkamp: Jenny Hellkamp is a 2nd grade teacher at Kilgour and has been teaching for 14 years. Jenny has previously served on Kilgour's
LSDMC as a primary teacher representative.

Hannah Plattner: Hannah is a 5th grade teacher at Kilgour, and is entering her 4th year of teaching.

Julya Hiresh: Julya is a kindergarten Kilgour teacher, and is entering her 7th year of teaching.

Meeting Dates for the 2024-2025 Year

The LSDMC will hold in-person meetings throughout the 2024-2025 year on site at Kilgour Elementary School in the library. A virtual link is also available for those unable to attend in-person.
