A Partner-in-Education
Partners in Education, a program sponsored by the Business Committee of the Greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, links local businesses with local schools on a one-to-one basis in the interest of augmenting and strengthening the children's education. Partners in Education projects are determined in a cooperative effort between the school and the business partner, seeking to add a dimension of knowledge or experience in areas where the business partner is most qualified to assist in the educational process. Faculty and students in turn serve to improve the business partner's understanding and appreciation of the educational system.

Kilgour School and PNC Bank have been Partners in Education since 1981. The partnership has developed steadily over the years in a continuing effort to complement the curriculum through this relationship. Highlights of the program are listed below.

Mustang Savings Bank
In addition to emphasizing the importance of a personal savings program, Mustang Savings offers some of the older students an opportunity to experience the business side of banking. The bank is staffed by Kilgour students under the guidance of employees of PNC Bank who assist them in accepting deposits from student savers. After each deposit day, the students' funds will be deposited in individual accounts at PNC Bank, where they will earn interest at the regular savings account rate. The students may elect to keep their accounts open at the end of the school year, or they may receive their money back with interest in the spring. Children who save $25.00 also may purchase a $50.00 savings bond when the school year concludes.

PNC Bank Day
January 22 is scheduled as PNC Bank Day at Kilgour. Bankers will become teachers for the day, visiting individual classrooms in grades K-5 to work with the children on banking and economic topics of the teacher's choice. Sixth graders will take a field trip to PNC Bank for a look at banking careers in action.

Awards Program
PNC Bank Awards have been introduced as a result of the partnership's cooperative endeavor to intensify student effort in areas of greatest need. The PNC Bank Awards are conferred on those primary level children recognized by their teachers as the most improved students in their respective classes in terms of scholastic achievement or behavior. In addition, intermediate awards are given for good citizenship.

The bank continues to fund the total awards program, including the Super Star Drawings, quarterly assemblies, achievement incentives, and other programs to motivate good behavior.

Fifth Grade Camp Experience
Fifth graders enjoy a three day motivational, community-building, hands-on learning experience at Camp Campbell Gard just before Thanksgiving. PNC Bank provides financial assistance for children who might not be able to attend without it.

Christmas
A choral group from Kilgour entertains employees and visitors at PNC Center one day during the Christmas Season, a highlight of the holiday celebration.

COSI Program
Exciting COSI programs presented by the Center of Science and Industry of Columbus are offered at Kilgour each winter. The sessions include a presentation and hands-on experience for the children.
